On 9 August 2009, the Panepirotic Federation of Australia, along with the Federation of Pontian Organisations of Australia and Victorian secretary for Planning, Ms Jenny Mikakos, attended the Assyrian Martyrs Day, commemorating the massacre of the Assyrian population in Simele, Iraq, in 1933. The event was organised by the Assyrian Arts and Literature Foundation.
Στις 9 Αυγούστου 2009, η Πανηπειρωτική Ομοσπονδία Αυστραλίας, μαζί με την Ομοσπονδία Ποντιακών Οργανώσεων Αυστραλίας και την πολιτειακή υφυπουργό Χωροταξίας κα. Τζέννυ Μικάκου έλαβαν μέρος στην εκδήλωση μνήμης για τις σφαγές των Ασσυρίων στο Σιμέλε του Ιράκ το 1933. Η εκδήλωση διοργανώθηκε από το Ίδρυμα Ασσυριακού Πολιτισμού και Λογοτεχνίας.
In his address, Panepirotic Federation of Australia Secretary Konstantinos Kalymnios referred to the martyrdom of those who lose their lives owing to their ethnic or religious identity as the foundation for the perpetuation of national identity.
Στον χαιρετισμό του, ο γραμματέας της Πανηπειρωτικής Ομοσπονδίας Αυστραλίας αναφέρθηκε στις θυσίες των θυμάτων σφαγής ως το θεμέλιο της διατήρισης της εθνικής μας ταυτότητος στην Αυστραλία.
